06 Nov #FloatCon2017
Ever since our first Float Con way back in 2014, Pro Float has made its mark as a mainstream manufacturer (and proudly so)! For that, we are eternally grateful. While we jump at any opportunity to get together with the community, it’s the Float Conference, held in Portland Oregon this year, that stands out as our number one event.
Five years in the running, the conference’s goal is simple: foster growth in the float community by bringing everyone together (very simple concept). And they really mean everyone! Vancouver Island may seem far from the craft beer capital of the Pacific Northwest, but float enthusiasts are flying in from all over the world to attend.
We recently got back from this year’s event, and boy, was it a blast! Not only did we get to attend all the awesome workshops, we were able to sponsor one of this year’s podcasts. Comedian Duncan Trussell hosts the “Duncan Trussell Family Hour” — a popular podcast that frequently covers float therapy. At Float Con 2017, he held a live podcast with guest Christopher Ryan, discussing the impact floating can have on a person’s self-reflection.
In any case, we thought we’d discuss a few key features you may be interested in about that came from Float Con. For anyone who’s thinking about attending next year, here’s what you can expect from the conference.
Believe it or not, but we don’t get to talk about float therapy as much as we’d like! For those that float, you most likely know what we mean. Explaining your passion and/or profession with people who are totally unaware is kind of tough, and regular people don’t always connect with what you’re saying.
At Float Con, all those who attend are equally as interested in the subject as you are! From manufacturers to frequent floaters, scientists to doctors, everyone is there for one reason: floating! If you’re looking for an opportunity to mingle with like-minded people, you can’t miss out on this one.
How to Start a Float Center Workshop
As a manufacturer of float therapy products, one of our favourite events at Float Con is the “How to Start a Float Center” workshop. For many people hoping to enter into this industry, knowing where to start can be a tremendous task. There is only so much information out there for entrepreneurs to sink their teeth into, so this workshop really closes the gap.
Covering everything from the construction of your centre to running effective marketing campaigns, this two day workshop is worth every penny. The best part is, you don’t need to worry about missing any of the conference to attend. The workshop generally takes place a few days beforehand, meaning you can maximize your time at Float Con.
Another aspect potential attendees may be interested in, is the Certified Pool/Spa Operator training program. Now if you’re wondering what pools have to do with float centres, we wouldn’t blame you. But there is value in this course, nonetheless. The CPO training program will teach you exactly how float tanks are different from pools and spas, and what regulations you won’t have to worry about. By understanding why these pool and spa regulations exist, you’ll have a much easier time working with your local health department.
If you’re interested in learning more about Float Con, make sure to check out their website. Hopefully we’ll see you there next year!
